A quiet country road stretches toward the horizon, flanked by open fields, an old fence line, and weathered utility poles—a tiny glimpse of rural Georgia beautifully captured in pen, ink, and watercolor.
Artist Martin Clary has an eye for the little vignettes and familiar landscapes that often go unnoticed. Each begins as a delicate pen-and-ink drawing, with watercolor added by hand to bring warmth and life to the scene. The soft, earthy palette of this piece perfectly captures the peaceful simplicity of a drive down an old country road.
Martin completes each miniature painting with a frame he handcrafts from old, reclaimed, weathered wood. No two are ever alike. Knots, nail holes, cracks, worn edges, variations in color, and other charming imperfections are intentionally preserved, giving the frame a history and character all its own—and making it feel as though it has always belonged with the scene it surrounds.
The original pen-and-ink watercolor measures a mere 5 5/8" x 4 1/4", with the handcrafted frame measuring approximately 8" x 6 3/8" overall.
Small in scale but wonderfully evocative, this one-of-a-kind original feels like a little window onto the Georgia countryside—a lovely piece for anyone drawn to rural landscapes, old roads, farmhouse style, or the quiet beauty of places that feel untouched by time.
